Who We Are
CIBART is a not-for-profit company registered under Indian Companies Act as Sec.8 (Not for Profit Company as section 25) and completed 21 years of existence.
CIBART is working as a dedicated agency for bamboo research and development in India and has operations in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. CIBART’s SUPPORTING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
CIBART’s priority is to work with Indian Stakeholders to focus on the use of bamboo and rattan as strategic resources that support sustainable development and their green economy action plans. Its strategy and performance contribute directly with eight Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
Eradicate poverty with skill development in all its forms
Provide infrastructure development and innovation support from Bamboo
Provide affordable, sustainable and reliable clean energy services for all
Help to access to adequate and affordable housing
Ensuring efficient use of natural resources
Working to protect and restore terrestrial ecosystems
Provide systemic actions to address climate change
Implementation of sustainable activities with indigenous and global partners as well
To achieve the above eight SDGs, CIBART is working in various functional areas such as resource development and management, market survey, monitoring and evaluation, baseline survey of NTFP, medicinal plants, herbal products, livelihood generation, value addition, skill development training, monitoring and evaluation systems, marketing and product design and development, enterprise development, training on Bamboo Handicraft, Furniture and Infrastructure, Dona Pattal, Natural Fiber extraction and processing, technology transfer and community development.

Bamboo Nurseries Establishment,
Plantation of bamboo species in boundaries/ block which will provide additional income to farmers
Supporting bamboo-based quality planting material for biomass generation and products
Support in training the artisans in bamboo crafts, furniture and structural components
Farmers training on awareness generation on bamboo benefits and technology support
Conduction of exposure programs to the farmers at our Common Facility Centre, Bahraich, UP and Tapi, Gujarat to demonstrate different bamboo products and species are growing

CIBART’s VISION
To realize the potential of bamboo in enabling poor rural communities secure livelihoods, and drive afforestation, sustainable fuels production, climate change mitigation and economic growth in developing economies.
CIBART’s MISSION
To work with poor rural communities to reduce poverty, enhance livelihood security and improve the quality of their lives by complementing and enhancing existing livelihoods with resilient alternatives using bamboo, through technology and applications development, skill building, and raising productivity and incomes.
CIBART OBJECTIVES
- To set up and support, with key stakeholders, a network of self-sustaining community-owned organizations in an action research mode that leverages bamboo resources and technologies for the betterment of these communities.

- To identify, create, strengthen and consolidate groups of professionals such as architects and engineers, entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs/development professionals working with or interested in the potential of bamboo.
- To collaborate with technology institutions and experts in India and overseas and jointly develop value added products to create/ensure sustainable and resilient livelihoods.
- To facilitate development of the bamboo sector by providing policy briefs, undertaking livelihood development activities in bamboo resource development and management, bamboo product design and development, project implementation, industrial development, enterprise development, community development, technology transfer, skills development, monitoring and evaluation systems and marketing.
- To actualize bamboo based enterprises which generate employment opportunities from resource generation, processing and production of market oriented products, after capacity building, skill enhancement and training.
